If you have a specific question, you may find the answer here. Please have a look at these common questions before contacting me.

How can I verify that you have made these websites?

The main method of telling who made a website is to check the Footer at the bottom of the website. José's website for exmaple has a link back to my website within the Footer. If the website was created by a decent website designer, the Footer should contain at least this information along with the year the website was created and the copyright information.

The other method is to contact the owner of the website and to ask if the service I have claimed to have given is legitimate.

What are accepted payment methods?

We accept the following payment methods: PayPal, Cheque and Debit and Credit Card.

Please note: if you choose to pay your non-refundable deposits by cheque, it will need to be cleared before we start the services chosen. If you choose to pay by cheque for the total amount owed, it will again need to be cleared before the services chosen will go live.

What is a server and how does it work?

A web server is an information technology that processes requests via HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) used to distribute information on the World Wide Web.

So how does a web server work?
Think of a server as an MP3 Player. In ths example, the MP3 Player has 2GB of memory which can hold approximately 500 songs based on 3 minutes per song.

A server has a limited amount of space depending on the amount the host has purchased, just like an MP3 Player. The server stores all of the information of the website which also includes back-ups of your website. My colleague backs your website up every 24 hours in case of an emergency.

For example; in this highly unlikely case: your website gets damaged by a hacker and is not fixable. We can then use the most recent back-up of your website to restore your site back to its original state.

Just like the 2GB MP3 Player, the server space will eventually fill up and will need to be upgraded which costs more money. This is why the price of the server depends on the content of your website; the bigger and more complex, the more space your website will take up.

What are your payment terms?

For website creations and design, we require 50% upfront as a non-refundable deposit and then the remaining balance once the work is complete.

If for any reason, you do not pay the remaining balance within 1 month of receiving your invoice and after receiving multiple reminders, your website will be suspended until you pay. If you do not pay within 1 month of this, it will be removed from our server. It is extremely important to make sure that you have funding available for a website, whatever the service may be.

For certain services available, you pay once the work is complete.

E-mail verification of any work to be completed will be sent before the work begins. You will be required to reply with your confirmation of this information before work will start.

If your website is being hosted on the server my colleague provides, you will be required to pay the costs upfront and in full to secure a space within the server.

You're required to supply an email address that you have access to and that you will be able to commincate with, if and when required.

It is very important that you make sure your contact information is correct and up to date. It is even more important to notify us of any possible scenarios where you will not be able to be contacted for a period of time.

Will my website show up in Google?

Yes. We design websites from the ground up so that they work well with search engines like Google, Yahoo! and Bing. We ensure each page is optimised for the keywords that you want to promote by registering your website and add monitoring tools (Google Analytics for example) so that you can view detailed statistics on the visitors to your site.

However, we cannot guarantee that your website will show up on any particular pages of Google. This is under the control of Googles bot so it is completely out of our control. Further information available here.

How long will it take to create my site?

This largely depends upon what is involved, as well as how soon you, as the client, are able provide us with the essential documents, such as information and pictures. A simple brochure site can be up and running in approximately 1 or 2 weeks. More complex projects may take longer. It also depends upon any unforseen issues that may occur. You will be given a realistic quote on the expected finishing date.

Will I own my website?

Yes. All that I ask is the right to post about your website within the testimonials and possibly post screenshots of the finished work on my own site and on 3rd party websites.

Although you own the website, the design of the website is exclusive unless purchased. Your template can be purchased if you do not want it to be used for someone else's website.

I don't live in your country, can I still use your services?

Yes. With multiple ways of communication, we can assist you with whatever service you require. Our services are available throughout the United Kingdom.

How much will my website cost?

A website can cost as little as £300. We endeavour to be extremely competitive and we haven't lost a customer yet. Contact us for a free quotation.

If I request a quote, what happens next?

We will contact you to learn more about your business and target audience and to find out your exact requirements and objectives.

Then we will analyse your requirements and make recommendations to achieve your objectives. Drawing from the information gathered up to this point, we can create detailed information about the website. Once you are happy with our proposal, the development can begin, eg developing the functionalities such as: an enquiry form, content management system and shopping cart.

The last phase is to thoroughly test the website to ensure that it is error free. At this point, we will then show your website to you and change anything that you want to be amended. Once you're happy with the results, we can then make your website live.

What if I want a new design but I already have a website?

Depending on what your website's platform is, we can design a whole new website for you. Alternatively, you can migrate from your current platform to Joomla if this is not your provider.

The positives about Joomla is it's one of the top platforms and most commonly used. You can also edit your information from the front end very easily meaning that you don't have to rely on someone else to edit the information for you.

What is migrating?
We will take all the information provided by you from your old website if you require and implement it into the Joomla platform. All the information such as registered members will not have to be lost this way. Everything from the backend of the site to the front end can be migrated to your new platform. This can also include a new website design, simply with the same information from the previous site.

What if I already have my own domain name?

We will transfer your domain name to your new website completely free-of-charge so you can keep the existing domain name.

Do you register domain names?

We can do this for you but we will always advise you to do this yourself through a reputable registrar such as www.123-reg.co.uk. A domain name can turn into a valuable asset to your company, as such we believe you should be in full control of it.

Your domain name should be easy to read, making your website more appealing to those who access your site. It's a good idea to make it not too long and to make it something memorable. If you need to make a name long, try using hyphens such as; example-example-example-1389.org.uk

This will make it easier on the eyes for your potential customers. Choose carefully as you need to pay per domain name.

What is a domain name?

A domain name is a unique address which points to your website. For example: www.modernwebsiteessentials.co.uk

Many personal sites use only the domain name of their Internet Service Provider (ISP) but we strongly recommend you get your own domain name.

Can you host/upload my site?

Yes, we provide full hosting facilities. We recommend you host your website on the server provided by my colleague as they are optimised for the languages we use but we also appreciate that some customer already have hosting contracts in place with their current providers and if required we will deploy them to the third party provider of your choice.

What if my business is small and/or not computer related?

Many people overlook the various products, services, or business processes they can include on a website. Any communication or interactions that happen within your business can be made easier and more efficient by the web. Your business will save money and time while appealing to a much greater audience; the world.

Not only that but your website will bring attention to your business no matter how small or how unrelated to the internet it may be. When people are looking for places to go for example, they usually use their search engine to look for related businesses that can offer them what they need.

It is also a great way to get your business started up as the most common method of advertisment is by word of mouth so if someone sees your website and are totally blown away by it, they will tell someone about it and so on.

Do I really need a website and what are the benefits?

A website can reach millions of people that might not otherwise be available to you. Think of it as a store front on a global level; open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Secondly, customers can view products, services, or whatever you want to share from the comfort of their own home and in their own time. Your website empowers your current customers and maximises marketing potential for future ones. No matter what type of business you are in, there are ways to grow and the potential to make money on the world wide web.

Does it matter if my website looks dated?

When you receive a visitor to your site, they will instantly perceive the quality of your services or products. The first impression a potential customer gets depends on the appearance of your website therefore your site needs to be appealing, easy to navigate and offers useful information. You are marketing yourself and your business to the world over the Internet and it is important to show professionalism and to give your website that personal touch.
